This classification of Buffoon is the "Egotist". S/he exhibit a profoundly exaggerated sense of self-importance borne from some recognition of his/her political talents. They're smart or clever, but their downfall comes when they start believing they're smarter and cleverer than anyone.” Also, Egotists lose sight of their personal and professional limitations and embrace increasing riskier political calculations. They convince themselves there's really no risk in their decisions - and why should they? Remember, inherent in the Egotist’s overestimation of themselves and a corresponding underestimation of the talents and capabilities of others which brings the Egotist crashing down.
The best modern example of the Egotists has got to be disgraced attorney Michael Avenatti. He was a self-anointed "Trump slayer" known for his brash declarations against the former President, which the media ate up. If you remember, CNN's Brian Stelter even thought of Avenatti as a serious contender for president in 2020! Of course, we all know what happened: hid pride goeth before his fall. Avenatti ended up disbarred, disgraced and in jail for his own malfeasance.
